I got the nickname Stevie G at one of my first real web design jobs. It was in Boca Raton, FL back in 2000… the office had a total of ten people in it, and literally half of the staff was also named Steve. So, I became Stevie G from then on. True story.
I had a few years of graphic design experience before I taught myself HTML back then. I did take a class to learn Dreamweaver too, which was really cool at the time. Since then, I mainly used Dreamweaver to build websites, but still needed to know how to code manually. It really helped to have experience in Photoshop and Illustrator already, and I dabbled in Flash some too.
I decided to go back to school after working for Apple the last six years, since they offer education reimbursement. I decided on the Web Development program, which I figured ties in well with my experience. My ultimate goal would be to transfer within Apple to work as a web developer. I have also worked from home for the past twelve years, so thinking about a commute locally makes my stomach turn… LOL. Although, it would be fun to work in a really cool office in downtown Raleigh, if things ever go back to normal in this world. For now I am safe being at home!
Outside of work and school, I am married with 2 fur babies, Duke and Bella. The photos above are of my wife Kim and I in the Bahamas last year and the year before. We own a house in North Raleigh with a backyard oasis… in-ground pool, palm trees, fountains… it’s very tropical! We were going for the Key West style theme since that was our first vacation together.
Typically, in the winter time, is when I like to make some goofy artwork. It’s fun and gives me something to do with some free time. Take a look at my Pinterest board where I have a bunch already posted.
